HEATHER HINES, PhD, LCSW
Heather Hines is a social worker in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She created cohesion for herself during a chaotic childhood by drawing fantastical creatures. She did not study art formally until she was in her mid-thirties after a young adulthood spent teaching English in Europe, Asia, and Mexico. Her aesthetic is influenced by the color pallet of the southwest along with inspiration from dream images, symptoms and yearnings.
Love Again
(Watercolor, pastel 12 X18)
This piece is a representation of finding the courage to love again after experiencing heartbreak and disappointment. The phoenix represents cycles of renewal by torching its nest and giving birth to a new self from the flames. This image captures a phoenix as it emerges from chaos into the curiosity, excitement, and anxiety of early cohesion. This image is a reflection of a process I am currently experiencing in my own life as well as my hope for the collective regarding the climate crisis.
