PAMELA J. McCRORY, PhD

In this time of the corona virus I am grateful for the sanctuary of nature, including my garden. Since I was a young child, a garden has been a peaceful haven, a source of joy and outlet for my creativity. Both my mother and grandmother had lovely gardens in which I explored, played and experienced wonder.

Egret
(Oil on Canvas, 12” x 15”)

In February, just before our world was turned upside down by the pandemic, a snowy egret visited my garden, and stood in stillness next to my pool. I was able to carefully approach it so we were only a few feet apart—a moment of wonder that gives me solace during these lonely months. This painting is a work in progress, starting from a photograph of my egret and evolving over these months of confinement into a wider landscape.
