“Therapy #Covid” represents some of the many fears that virus invokes in my clients. I hold interest in aspects of neuroscience that shed insight into the workings of the brain including the understanding of the social and emotional role of the limbic structures, non-verbal emotional experiences, and the role that pairing of fear-arousing emotions with positive new sensory experiences can play in overcoming trauma.

Many regions of the brain are activated while engaged in the process of art making and it has been suggested that whether imagery is seen or imagined, it activates the visual cortex of the brain in a similar fashion, noting that the human body responds to mental images as if they are real. Likewise, it has been observed that images serve as a bridge between the body and the mind and result in differing levels of conscious processing and subsequent physiological changes in the body.
