As Founder of the Mirroring Self, Mirroring Soul™ praxis, I have developed the Face in the Mirror series as a psychological exploration of my facial reflection. As the black marker touches the mirror, I ask myself, "What can I learn from this face?" By way of response, I initiate an exploration which includes different modes of expression, including the written word, physical embodiment and movement of the figures that present themselves. The images that transpire are a mixed media expression reflecting the emotionality psyche offers. My artistic expression is a reflective practice, an artistic practice and a transformative practice. My work promotes the autonomy of figures that emerge from the depths of my soul and, ultimately, becomes an expansive psychological journey and exploration of many interior facets as expressed through the face in the mirror.
Telling the Story

My unique faces that transpire from the mirror speak their own language and I translate what materializes through the textures and colors I use. Although the origin of each portrait begins as a facial reflection, the emotions that emerge are universal ... sometimes timid or strong, angry or loving, these are feelings shared by all of humanity. Each individual face has a life of its own and each is connected to the others in the same way human beings are connected to one another, one at a time. My art offers a unique inroad to knowing myself. It is my hope that viewing the art ignites a desire for others to understand themselves more deeply, and in turn, to understand the depth and capacity of others.
