GEOFFRY WHITE, PhD
I'm the oldest of four boys with a physician father and artist mother. My three younger brothers were artists and I became a healer like my father. Eventually I let my artists side emerge which was greatly facilitated by Mirrors of the Mind experience. Since then art and psychology have gone hand in hand for me. Some of the highlights include giving single use cameras to children in war zones and asking them to record their experiences. One of these projects found its way into a United Nations exhibit for the millennium. The Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC now has it in their permanent collection. I also have three of my photos in the Louvres permanent photography collection. I hope to continue doing art and appreciating the art of my fellow psychologists for the duration.
Brotherly Love
(Oil on Canvas, 16” x 24”)
This work "Brotherly Love" was inspired by conversations about siblings with my friends, colleagues and of course clients. I think sibling relationships have not received the attention they deserve through history, psychology, and even within the family. This particular image was from a photo I took of the male sibs of a psychologist friend, Carol Lindquist who lives in Laguna Beach. She recently died of Parkinson's and when I attended her memorial I asked to see the photo which here husband kept in their home displayed for all to see.
