DEBORAH LEE BAKER, PhD
Deborah Lee Baker is a Spanish-American abstract artist and clinical psychologist based in Los Angeles, CA. Her colorful and emotional paintings display a wide range of style that also favors reusing and reiterating particular techniques, color combinations, and themes. Not surprisingly, psychological themes such as the shadow self or loss and grief permeate her work.
Mirrors of the Mind 2022 is Deborah Lee Baker’s sixteenth art show since she started painting in 2009. Her paintings have appeared in numerous TV shows and a few commercials. You can see more of her work online at www.deborahleebaker.com.

We have seen incredible struggles this year that are testaments to the human spirit and collective, as people have attempted to fight for their freedoms and basic rights. One example is how the citizens of Ukraine have successfully and cleverly held off their attackers despite being outnumbered and outgunned. It is not without sacrifice. In Iran, the violent death of Mahsa Amini while in custody of the "morality police" has sparked civil unrest and ongoing determined protests despite a brutal response from the regime. Iran Human Rights, a Norway based group, released a statement yesterday saying that at least 133 people had been killed in the protests so far, and many more have been arrested. The courage of these women and men is unfathomable. They are willing to fight even if their own lives are compromised by a regime uninterested in social change. This painting is a humble attempt to acknowledge their sacrifice and our loss.
